Café 't Poshoes is a cozy cafe in the heart of Beesel. The homely atmosphere of the cafe stands for cozy drink, but certainly not for wild parties. Epicures are at the right place. Visitors to the Bed & Breakfast can access via a separate guesthouse reach their experience and so not affected by the activity bar. While it is certainly advisable to have a nice nightcap to come eat.

History of Café 't Poshoes

In 1781 lived in this place the blacksmith and his wife Christina January Fijten Tijssen. This house was in August 1788 after a forced sale of property Hendrikus Janssen. The family moved Fijten below to Bakhei. Treasure linkage Hendrikus Janssen and his wife Wilhelmina Gerits sold the house aen the Plaets again in June 1791 in two parts and moved them to Bussereind.
The front part of the house now owned by Gradus Reijnders and Berdina Berdij. The other half fell into the hands of John of Beesel, a baptized Catholic to jew. Gradus and Berdina left the house after their son Francis, who in 1823 married Anna Margaretha Thewissen, with whom he had several children.

After her death remarried in 1833 to Agnes French Geraets. During a storm at January 29, 1836 the house was severely damaged by French Reijnders, like that of his neighbor, the blacksmith January Quicken. Two weeks later wrote to the mayor that "in this town two huiser by the storm have collapsed become, firstly the house belonging to Reijnders Francis, laborer living income in this town, which house and household goods to a value of six hundred francs damaged, secondly the house of the widow in January Quicken, daily wage nabuurvrouw star and of the organizations mentioned above, for a sum of three hundred francs corrupt ". It was in both cases poor households who had to earn a living by manual labor. Apparently the houses were rebuilt. French Reijnders, who meanwhile had moved to Swalmen, sold his home on March 3, 1855 French William Beelen from Belfast and Cornelia Huberta Janssen Beesel. In July 1855 they bought also the portion of the family Quicken.

The new buyers were still unmarried but were apparently already full of plans. After their marriage contract had agreed in July 1857 they gave each other the vows. Beelen died in 1875, only 52 years old. In February 1876, at the request of the widow and her children Beelen Jacques, Guillaume Lucia and an inventory of the estate.

In the early 20th century the building was owned by Jacob and Catherine Schoenmakers Hubertina Stroucken. This family-run between September 1909 and 1928 the post office help Beesel and Puck (1920) we can see father Jacob and his daughter Mary. Note also the mailbox bottom left of the facade.

In 1930 the house was a major rebuilding again divided into two. The right panel was established some time Janissen liquor store, computer store RoRo later. In the spring of 2008 were both properties, however, a major facelift with the facade arrangement from the beginning of the 20th century was largely restored again. The building is now our cafe on 20 June 2008 was festively opened.
